As I stood on the banks of the Arlington Reservoir near Berwick, the sun shone, birds chattered and insects buzzed, the stresses of modern day life melted away from me. What replaced it was an improvised symphony written by nature and intense concentration on snaring a fish. Fly fishing is a fascinating skill to learn and there is an awful lot to it. In a couple of hours I found out how to put the rod together, flick it up out of the water, up over my head and then shoot it back into the reservoir.

18 May 2012 Last updated at 23:34 ET RNLI lifeboats, the Coastguard helicopter and a Royal Navy warship are searching for the vessel Lifeboat crews are expected to resume searching for two missing fishermen after a body thought to be that of the third crewman was found at sea. The crew of the Purbeck Isle set off from Weymouth on Thursday morning but the alarm was raised when the 36ft crabber failed to return. The man’s body was found at about 17:30 BST on Friday. Attention will also focus on an object found by a survey vessel on the sea bed at a depth of 180ft. Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman Fred Caygill said teams were hoping to send down specialist equipment to look at the object

18 May 2012 Last updated at 07:31 ET RNLI lifeboats, the Coastguard helicopter and a Royal Navy warship are searching for the vessel Ships, lifeboats and the Coastguard helicopter are continuing their search for a fishing boat and its three-man crew missing without trace off Dorset. The boat, the Purbeck Isle, was reported missing at about 18:00 BST when it failed to return to Weymouth. Fred Caygill of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said: “We will continue to endeavour to keep going with the search.” An extensive search overnight included HMS York and a US Navy supply vessel. ‘Vast search area’ The search has resumed with the RNLI lifeboat, Coastguard helicopter and a commercial survey vessel using its sonar equipment. Mr Caygill said: “It’s a vast search area off Portland within the periphery of Lyme Bay, searching the usual fishing grounds and where the Purbeck Isle usually lays its pots, but that search area is expanding.” The crew was rescued last year after the fishing vessel took on water The alarm was raised for the 11m (36ft) boat and its crew by a fellow fisherman who was unable to make radio contact with the vessel
